PVC gate valves?

Anybody know where I can get a couple of 1 inch PVC gate valves locally?

I've been everywhere I can think of and I've only seen 1/2 and 3/4 at ACE hardware.

I could order some online but I'm in a big hurry to get my sump plumbed up so I can get all this equipment out of my hallway.

Any ideas?

Don't buy a gate valve, buy a ball valve, they work better. You can purchase them at Home Depot or any sprinkler supply store.

Sorry but have to disagree here. Ball valves are really hard to make fine adjustments. Gate valves are a lot easier to adjust but more expensive. :)

Gate valves will rust out & fail. Ball valves are made of plastic. If you find a plastic gate valve they can leak on the shaft under the handle.

Good to know yes you need to buy the plastic ones. Never had one leak though.

Yes, I know gate valves are more likely to fail, but I don't need just an on/off switch. I need to be able to throttle water flow so a gate valve is the only way.

Being as how I am looking for one made entirely of PVC I don't think rust will be an issue.

I'll use ball valves near my unions for emergency shutoff or doing repairs/maintenance, but I need the gate valve to meter water between a T in my sump IN line.

Good to see you're making progress!! Stick with the gate valve for accuracy, never really had any issues with them. Heck change it out after a while if it begins to deteriorate....
