Pygmy Octo Info

Hi all!

I've been reading past threads in the past few weeks regarding pygmy octos, and I think that I'd like to get one. I saw that a few people here are also trying to get their hands on one too, and was curious where they did end up getting theirs.

I have a guy that gets stuff for my reef club and he said that on the last list there was "baby octopus" on the list. He said that he would call them and find out if that is a pygmy or some other kind of octo.

Just trying to see where everyone is getting theirs, so I can have a back up plan.

Baby octopus probably refers to juvenile, cultured bimacs which are available from several sources.

Pygmies are hit or miss, although in March and April O. mercatorus is fairly abundant in the Gulf of Mexico. Tampa Bay often gets them this time of year.

Sorry forgot to add bimac really arent pigmy's they get sorta large and require decient sized tanks. you can start with a small tank and up grade it as they grow. just never give an "appropriate" make it larger due to their exploring tendencies.

You can try tampa bay salt water too. Richard can collect pygmies.
