pyramid snails

All of them are parasitic and without a suitable host they can't live. Many of them apparently aren't that picky about hosts though. Some can go from snails to clams or vice versa. They almost always come in on their hosts.

If you had the snails beforehand and they weren't attacking the snails on your clean up crew then they probably aren't pyramids. In that case, more than likely you're seeing rissoids, which are free living.

I have the pyramid snails, Im thinking of letting all my CUC snails die (which is down to 2 anyways) hopefully then the pyramid snails will die off.

Except I also have Collonista snails, would the pyramids be able to live off them, or would they die off with no other snails in the system?

And don't forget that many inverts are capable of surviving for long periods of time without feeding. Some temperate anemones can last for years.

I have seen them on collonistas. Though, they seem to prefer to ride on larger snails.

Best of luck,

Roy

They may not recognize the Collonista as hosts, but I see no reason to assume that.
