QT question

I have a young baby ocellaris that is in a QT tank by itself with nothing else in there except a sponge filter. I seen some ick on this little guy and currently am treating it. How long should he stay in this tank for with treatment before I can put him into my reef tank?

Did it have ich in the main tank? If yes, your main tank is infested and no fish can be there for at least 4-6 weeks, 8 weeks being ideal. That means your clownfish needs to stay in QT for that period of time.
If your tank is clean you should wait 2 weeks after ich is gone to make sure it doesn't come back.

Fish was not in my main tank, I just got him today am not happy about it as he was staying there with all the other clowns till they cleared up. But when you have one system running 6 tanks you will never get rid of it. So I bought him and brought him home so he has not been in the main tank at all.

I don't fool around when I treat ick and I use ick guard for any salt or freshwater fish that shows this. I have no time for the hypo thing want to kick it in the butt asap. I have a tank that is just for this type of thing and not used for anything else.

So two weeks then another two weeks just in case?

4 weeks minimum for observation if all you are trying to do is ensure general health.

if you want to ensure it has no more Ich on it, then you will have to treat it with TTM or Copper/CP first. if you have never treated other fish before, then your DT has Ich already as well anyway. so unless you have the time space and patience for a full out QT of all fish and run your DT's fallow for 72 days, then you may as well just do the 4 weeks observation. Ich will likely stay on the fish in the gills when moved over, just in a small number.
