QT requirement for Halichoeres leucoxanthus

I tried to keep Halichoeres leucoxanthus twice (Yellow & Purple Wrasse), and every time it dies within 24 hours in the QT tank.

My acclimation procedure is to adjust QT salinity to the shipper salinity, float the bag for 20 minute, open, then introduce to the QT tank. Most other fishes that comes in the same shipment survive.

I'd like to keep this fish, but I hate to have them die under my care.

Is there anything I can do to increase their chances of survival?

Should I put a bowl of sand in the QT tank?

Thanks,

Tell us more about the QT setup. What do have for means of oxygenation?

20g long, MaxiJet powerhead, HOB filter, and heater. The filter is seeded with sponges that have been in my sump for a month. It is not cycled, and I do frequent water changes like 5g every 3 days or so. There are PVC pipes in the bottom for hiding. The current QT inhabitant, which came in the same package yesterday, are 4" Naso, 2" fairy wrasse, and 1" goby.
