QTing fish that need sand?

Like certain gobies and such.... I could put sand in a QT tank, but then if the fish has something, then I've given it a great place to hang out, so I'd rather not. Do you just take a shot at it and toss it in? I'd rather not risk the rest of my fish. Maybe there's a trick I missed.

I'd still QT any fish you purchase. I put a thin layer in my QT tank.

I'm curious about this as well. I read that you can place sand in a shallow dish in the QT tank instead of spreading it all over the bottom. This way you don't have to place so much sand in the QT tank.

Ich cannot live in water that is kept at hyposalinity, so if you are doing QT with hyposalinity it cannot live in the sand anyway. Can you go into more detail about your QT setup?
