Quality chiller for 90 gallon reef tank.

I am looking for chiller which will last more then 2 years and is also "quiet". Until now price was my main concern, however I am getting tired off listening to the chiller noise. I have metal halide lights and my corals love them, but the sound off chiller working for 30 minutes is annoying. I moved chiller inside the cabinet, but obviously that was not a smart idea. My electric bill went to the roof. What was I thinking !!!!
Can anyone recommend near silent chiller?

I've used a few chiller tradewin , jbj, off brand and teco. By far the teco is the best chiller.

None of the chillers I have ever used would come anywhere close to silent .... or even near-silent. I locate mine outside, both for noise and for heat avoidance.

I wish I could move chiller outside, however that option is not available to me. I have been in the reef hobby for a while, I am about to buy my fourth chiller. I always buy cheap, China made ones and complain about noise and the fact that after 3-5 years they die on me. My current one will probably last until the end off the year, if I am lucky.
Nothing last forever, however I have a refrigerator in the kitchen, bought 15 years ago and I can only hear it working at night, when everything is quiet. Why can they use compressor like the one in the fridge?
SCUZY, how long have you had your Teco chiller? What size do you have? And what size of tank are you cooling with it? Thank you.

Quality chiller for 90 gallon reef tank.

I have a 1/3 hp teco and it's been a lot better than the others Ive had. Gone through 2 jbj , 1 tradewin and one no name. Most lasted me a good 2 years. So far so good with the teco. it cools the 210 fast and it's sounds quiter than the others. Only time will tell as Ive just got it to replace my tradewin.

Perhaps look at a change of lighting? Don’t get me wrong I’m a halide user and have been for 20 years! Love them and don’t want to change. However in your case would leds be an option? In the size tank you have listed in your profile you could probably outfit your display with leds and perhaps not need a chiller at all? Just a thought! I too ran a chiller for years but am now in a situation where I can run halides and not need a chiller. I feel your pain! Chillers are costly to purchase and run and am glad I can go without. If I was in your shoes I MIGHT consider LEDs .

Do you have an accessible attic? Could you run a line up there?

I switched from halide to led and haven’t looked back. Everything is a compromise, for me the powerbill was no longer an option.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to attic. Switching to LED is possible, however my system has been running great for over seven years and I don't want to rock the boat. Most people are happy with switching to LEDs some lost corals during the switch. I don't know if I want to risk it.
