I been attempting to quarantine all of my new fish. I'm now thinking about adding a Mandarin but how is one supposed to quaranetine them with the usual trickey eating habits? I believe my main display has plenty of pods but I doubt my quarantine does.

Any suggestions?

I don't believe you have to quarantine a mandarin. They have a natural slime coating that prevents most diseases. I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Well i guess you could buy Arctic or Tiger pods but personally it's one fish I wouldn't recommend QT for.
Like fkbsar said they have a reputation for being ich "resistant" due to their slime coat.

Excellent! I always wanted one but feared I didn't have the pod population to take support them. The other night I took a flashlight to the tank and was suprised to see them crawling all over the rocks. So I think I might be good now. :)

I woud def. reccommend a freshwater dip, so that you make sure you atleast kill anything which may be in the water around the mandarin. I personally feel mandarins to disease resistant, but even the smallest drop of infected water can cause multiple problems, when you can't do anything else, DIP!

How harsh is the FW dip on the fish though? I heard with sick fish use it as a last resport as it could kill them in a weakened state. Do healthy fish take to them pretty easily?

yes, healthy fish will have no problem with a 3-5 minute dip, make sure the PH is correct and that the bucket is aerated. I usually add quickcure to the water as well, but it is recommended to use methylene blue. I suggest that you read some before you try it.
