Quarantine... bucket?

Is a large, plastic bucket (20 gallons) acceptable for use as a quarantine area? My only concern would be the difficulty in seeing in; are there any other compelling reasons to use a glass/acrylic tank?

As I recall the std ten gallon tank sold at Petco/Petsmart sells for about $10. If you need to get a larger tank and money is an issue then you might consider a large rubbermaid container. Visibility is a plus when Qting fish but not an absolute.

Money is an issue, and I already own 3 of these 20 gallon tub/buckets and they've only ever been used for mixing fresh saltwater; which is why I was hoping that it might be safe to use one of them as the container.

I don't see why you can't use them if they can support some type of hang-on-back filter. However, one of the reasons you QT fish is for close observation. It may be hard to see the beginnings of ich if you can only sort of look down on them and not get a good side view. Before you decide to transfer them from the QT to the DT, I'd scoop them up in a glass container of some sort and give them a real close look-over.
