Hello all! I have a question about my current quarantine tank. My roommate has a maculiceps tang that has ich and he doesn't have a quarantine for it. He wants to give it to me and so i was wondering would he be fine in a 20 gallon long quarantine tank for a hyposalinaty treatment? The tang is about 4 in and i know how tangs are with swimming space.-thankyou

Yes, he'll be fine in that tank for QT. I'd personally just use cupramine though, instead of hypo.

20g is fine for a short period of them (<2 months). And I will go with copper treatment also b/c with hypo, a little evaporation will mess things up especially right now all of our central heating is on full blast. GL

Hmm ok, thank you so much! And that is true, I didn't really think about that but ill give copper a go I guess. I kinda like that I a little more than hypo to be honest with you lol is there anything I should worry about with copper? I know its harmful if I put to much in but any other facts or info I should know? Never messed with it before until now. Thanks

Sorry. I don't mean to piggyback (heh heh) this thread, but I too am quarantining for the first time with Cupramine and I am worried about messing it up. I have read the stickles and they are very helpful. but leave some of the finer points out. For instance:

1: What do you use in a HOB filter if you can't use carbon? Ammonia remover? Maybe drop some cash on crushed live rock?

2: Seriously? You can't use stress coat? I am doing a dosed water change about every other day. How is that supposed to work?

I'd start your own thread; this gets confusing and the OP doesn't get the answers needed. Here's som info on Cupramine, the FAQ are vital.

Fair enough. I was going back and forth about posting in this. The tipping point was that blackouts thread was about to fall off the page unanswered, so I thought, "what the heck."

Protocol noted.
