Quarantine tank water is cloudy?

Hi everyone,

My quarantine tank (40 breeder) has some pretty cloudy water. It has been setup for a few months, but doesn't always have fish in it. In fact, it has only ever hosted some clownfish. I treated my first clownfish with prazipro, but that's the only medication I used. After that, I did a big clean of the quarantine tank and replaced about half of the water. A hang-on-the-back filter with marine pure spheres, a heater, and some circulation pumps are all I have in there besides some PVC pipes. My second clown didn't enjoy his time in there. He tried to jump on many occasions and was swimming sideways at the surface. All of the parameters are fine. I even pointed the pumps to create maximum surface agitation. I moved a clown to another system and he stopped swimming sideways and acted normal from that point forward. All I can see is cloudy water.

Does anyone have any ideas what's going on? Bacteria bloom leading to lack of O2? Stray voltage from a heater? I just don't know.

Likely bacteria bloom. Try several small water changes and a filter replacement.

Wouldn't worry too much about it, though it looks unpleasant it won't negatively effect the fish in any way. You could do some water changes like mentioned above, alternatively you could wait it out to subside on its own.

if its white its bacterial bloom which will go away in few days or with few water changes. if its green then its algae bloom.
did you use any medication recently like prazipro?

I used prazipro and did a large (50%) water change after that treatment was completed.

its after effects of prazipro and is bacterial bloom. very normal will go away in few days and may happen again few time.

Same thing happened to me after using prazi. It stayed cloudy for a month so I just reset the entire qt.
