quarantine tank

hi i was thinking of setting up a quarantine tank but dont know where to start, do i need to set up a completly seperate tank inc pump, skimmer, rock, lighting etc, how big would it need to be?

nothing fancy i use a 20 gallon with a hob filter, heater,light, you can go 10 gallon if you want it depends on what size the fish you want to qt, also no rock i use fake decorations and 2" pvc tees for the fish

thanks do you only use it when introducing new livestock if so surely it doesnt get used all that often,

I just bought the 10 gal set up from Walmart (tank, filter, hood w/ lights, heater). I'm about to do a 10 gal water change from my main tank. Can I use this water or some of it to fill the QT?

thats what i did too added water from my main to my qt, no problems just make sure the tanks cycles before adding fish
