quarantining a lawnmower blenny

I'm adding a few more fish into my SPS/LPS DT. It's been years since I added any fish, but I set up my QT about 6 weeks ago and ready for some new fish.

My QT has only been running for 6 weeks, I used the 'drain' water out of my AWC from my DT, slapped in some old live rock, a few drops of ammonia and pinch of food every few days.

Issue is there is zero algae in the QT. In the past I've owned lanwmower blenny's but IMHO they only eat algae in the tank. Over time you may be able to get them to take prepared food but it's hit or miss.

Anyway - I'm just wondering how best to quarantine the blenny. Perhaps I only keep him in the QT for a few days. Not sure - I don't want him to starve in QT.

You could try shredding up some nori and seeing if the blenny will eat that way. If you're going to QT, only doing so for a few days is pointless as far as potentially not spreading disease.

Nori, Algae flakes, Algae tabs,etc...

Or just be a rebel and skip the quarantine and take your chances.. Buy from a reputable source..

Try adding more light to your QT, to see if you can get some algae growing. Having the fish be able to feed as it normally does will help it transition to aquarium life.

I would try taking nori and rubber banding it to a rock. My lawnmower blenny cannot resist that, though my lawnmower blenny eats anything and everything. I've also found that frozen spirulina brine shrimp has a very good track record of getting fish to eat for the first time in QT.

I have a starry blenny which I believe is quite similar. She gorges on nori sheets and has since she arrived.
