In my experience LiveAquaria livestock have as many diseases as any wholesaler. I choose to QT all fish, but if I had 2 add a fish that would not survive a QT period, then I would ONLY choose Divers Den. Probably 80 -90% of the fish I purchased from DD have been disease free.

I agree. When you buy from LiveAquaria your fish comes form an LA wholesaler. So no difference from your LFS ordering fish. QT isn't just for disease, but to allow the fish to recover from capture and shipping stress. I even QT fish from Diver's Den. DD fish are NOT guarenteed to be disease free.

Agree with the others. It's a good idea to QT any fish you add to your system.

I've learned the hard way to qt everything. a DT without fish for 2 months is not a lot of fun.

Why would you no QT from LA? They are just like everyone else; a store that carries and ships many fish, and it is always best to observe and treat if necessary before introducing a fish to your established system, I don't care where it comes from.

I am happy to see more people QT than dont....or so they say! We preach this over and over and over again on the website, but for some reason people still think they dont need to QT. Drives me crazy! Please always QT...I dont care who it came from!

I have and haven't depending on the fish. I think I QT'ed almost all the fish I've gotten from them except for a school of anthias just cause I didn't have a QT large enough to keep them all in. I did check them over really carefully before putting them in the tank (yes, I know that's not good enough, but that's what I did). They did fine and were disease free.

I agree, you should definitely QT fish from DFS. I think those that do not QT it is because DFS does a very good job not selling fish that are visibly sick. I will commend them on this, but it is still so important to QT once they're in your possession.

As for the Diver's Den fish, I think it'd be interesting to see what people say about this. I would still QT as I like to proactively treat my fish. More of an active approach while I believe DFS DD uses more of a passive approach of not treating for Crypt etc unless it comes up. Isn't this correct? Someone correct me otherwise!

I quarantined two anthias from LA, both jumped, but were VERY healthy from the start. I didn't quarantine a waspfish from DD because they cannot get diseases, and it was so small i'm not sure if it could have handled copper. I did, however, keep it in a breeder box to make sure it was eating correctly.

+1. I use my attached 60 gallon refugium for all of my new additions now, it allows the fish to acclimate to the system and start feeding well without the stresses of having to compete with existing tankmates. I havent lost a new fish in years to stress or aggression using this method and I know that without the refugium many of my touchy fish might not have made it if they were simply added to the display tank.
