queen trigger question

I have a 12-14 inch queen trigger in a 200 gallon glass tank. She is always biting the glass when she sees me , particularly at feeding time. I was thinking of placing her in a 400 gallon acrylic tank so she would have more room. My question is, would her teeth and powerful jaws scratch the acrylic?

I had a 9" qt, I can't imagine she would scratch acrylic (I had mine in a 210g glass tank). The great thing about my QT was that if I put my face too close to the glass she would charge me.

I would not want to meet her in the open ocean.

An adult Queen Trigger could easily scratch acrylic. Any of the large puffers and Triggers are a risk....I was advised by the guy at Bluezooaquactics that even my Niger is a risk to my acrylic when he becomes an adult.

but unlike a puffer, triggers teeth don't jet out.

I would think a queen would destroy the tank.

Would a porcupine puffer be a problem with acrylic? Their teeth don't protrude like a dogface, but mine is always biting the glass.

You could afford the braces!

I think it could scratch the acrylic too, I will post a link to a 60 meg video of a 7" blue line trigger attacking its reflection....after it uploads that is.

The QT I had was 18" and it left numerous scratches in a glass tank. I'm dead serious! It had monstrous teeth like the one above. I wouldn't dare put one in an acrylic tank.

I remember when you got that QT, what happened to it?

Not only can they directly damage the acrylic by biting it, they can also create horrendous scratches when they "rearrange" your rockwork. When you move LR, you're careful to keep it away from the walls of the tank. Triggers don't care, and they'll just throw any piece wherever they feel like.

My Queen became too much for my tank. No option for upgrade due to space constraints. I was afraid she was going to bust the tank. A guy from New York bought her and placed her in a 1000g tank with a few other aggressive fish. Last I heard she had killed all the other tankmates and was the only fish in a tank that size. People just don't understand how big and mean these fish really are. It is really a fish that doesn't belong in the home aquarium.
