i am in the initial stages of planning for a 120 gallon tank... i want to go with 2 6100's on the Tunze multi controller... i know at full power, each pump is rated at around 45watts... but at full power, that's already 54x water flow in a 120...
i just want to know the estimate of how much power will 2 of the 6100's consume if i turned both the pumps down to around 44x flow, while also taking into account that on a controller, both pumps will not have the same output at the same time...
or is the power consumption difference so minimal that i only end up saving a few pennies per month setting it at 44x versus the full ~54x...
i plan on having a reef tank for as long as i can forsee, so setting up the tank with minimal power consumption is very important to me... this priority actually has a major influence on my equipment list... right now, my calculated watts for the proposed tank is about 440w per 24 hours... that's taking into consideration that the lights will only be on for about 11 hours... with full "on", the tank will consume a total of 793w... i don't think that's too bad for a 120, but of course, the lower the better...!
