Question about Anti Jump Screans

I have a question about anti jump screens .

Someone on RC made some screens to prevent carpet surfing . The screen was a clear small square netting . Does anyone know where to buy that material ? Ted

I used bird block/stop, it's found in the garden section of Home Depot next to the weed mat, just put that into a window screen kit instead of the screen and you got yourself a no light blocking suicide stopper.

I have never seen something like that but I use egg crate. You can get it at any hardware store, it's on the lighting section were I go but some places may have it by the ceiling tiles.

Here is the link to the build thread. They work great. Unless you have a lot of small fish. I doubled up the net. One on a 45 degree angle from the second layer. And always be careful when you work on your tank when screen cover is removed. My flasher wrasse likes to test my patience this way. Always darting toward the open side. Fast little son -of-a-gun. You can find all the materials needed at your local Home Depot.

Enjoy and happy building.

Lockus, I like this idea, but are you worried at all about the fish jumping up and getting tangled in the netting?

No. The netting squares are 1/2". By criss-crossing the squares become 1/4" or smaller triangles. I think that the fish would bounce off rather than get caught up.

I used a window screen frame and bought 1/4" plastic mesh pond netting. Works great and blocks no light. I bought it online at a garden/pond supplier, I can't remember the name. Just Google pond netting and there are several companies that sell it.
