Question about Chili Coral

I have a Chili Coral that had great polyp extension for a few months. Then I added two more and my old one won't open now at all. It doesn't look like its sick or anything. It just has not opened for two weeks now. Any reasons? The other two are fully open.

I just looked at mine with a flash light and it has some bug like things crawling on it. I don't know what they are and they are too little to get a picture and pretty fast when you shine the light on them. So I would imagine these bugs are bugging it. They don't really look like they are eating it but they could be. I just don't see any damage right now. The bugs look like they have a longish body and are clear to tan looking. I have dipped the coral twice now.

unfortunately, that's the story with these corals still ... they dont get enough to eat, and slowly waste away.

sometimes they dont open and just produce a mucus, and those cases they usually open back up prety fast. usually they do that for a week or so.

the little bug things are probably amphipods.

Yeah, it is making a shiny mucus over the whole thing. Maybe its just going through something then. Does the mucus shed?

My chili pepper coral has still not opened. It is just sitting there looking like it is not dead but not opening at all. The others around it are opening like crazy. It has been a long time already since he has not opened. How long does it take for them to die if they are going to die?

Hang it upside down, they do 1000X better.

Tonight my husband and I added Cyclopeeze to the tank for feeding along with the regular feeding of Marine Snow. I just looked at the tank and the Chili Pepper Coral that has not opened in months is now opened. Wonder what that is all about!!!

this was the frozen stuff. It worked again tonight. We only cut a little bit with kitchen scissors and spot fed the Chili Pepper. I still can't believe he extended his polyps out.
