My skimmer sits in the first chamber of my sump where the water returns for the tank. Does it affect my skimmer performance if I do or do not use a filter sock? Or does it not matter? Thanks!
thats where it should in the first chamber, filter sock usage is debatable, i only use one for a day or two after doing maintenance on the tank, i have that exact skimmer and and it works great, your going to wonder how you ever did without it.
For some reason the microbubbles created from the falling water without the filter sock seems to make my skimmer work differently than with the filter sock.
Yeah use a filter sock, not only does it stop microbuble but also collects any large food particles that are not eaten by the fish. Oh and also if a snail or fish goes down the overflow it will not get sucked up by the skimmer or return pump.
