Question about Haddoni Carpet

Recently my carpet has stayed smaller and not fully extended. Today he stayed completely closed the whole day. Should I be worried? He has been acting weird like this ever since he ate one of my starfish.

Is this the one that I sold to you?

How long ago did it eat the star? Have you seen it produce a waste ball from it?

When I had it it always stayed open (( I have other ones that will retract into the sandbed from time to time )), so something is up.

Just to be safe, what are your current parameters? Also, just to be safe I would do a water change and run some fresh carbon.

Todd,

Yes its the one I got from you. Since he ate the star about 3 weeks ago I havent see it make a waste ball, but I may have missed it. I have been doing regular 10 gal water changes every week. My parameters are 0 for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphates. Salinity is 1.025, calcium 440. It was open the day I got it fully from you and in the last few weeks I have not see it open fully. LMK what you think.

I tried to feed it today and it wouldn't stick to the tentacles. I dint react to the food touching it at all. Normally he ate it right up. Also his mouth is open all the time, and a few section of the tentacles have white threads coming off it.

Are there other anemones in the tank with it? Me personally, if it's still alive, I'd do a large water changes and quick. It sounds like something in your tank is causing it stress.

I have to agree -- something is going on.

When I had it it would always eat -- anything, including me. And I never once saw its mouth open, even the day I got it.

Mine tended to be a pretty good indicator of pH issues. Would there be any reason that your pH has swung in either direction?

Should be but I ll check and do another water change. What about algea? I have some red algea glowth in my tank. Not coraline kinda like red slime. I have been doing huge water changes to rid it and am running GFO and carbon.

The salt I am using is Oceanic, I am not dosing vodka/sugar, the star was the size of a silver dollar and it is the only nem in the tank. What about aptasia? The is on bigger one by it maybe he stung it? I'll kill it now.
