question about Leopard Wrasses

So I added a Leopard wrasse about 5 weeks ago after many attempts to keep one alive in my tank. When I added the last fish 5 weeks ago, he hid in the sand for a few days and didn't seen him again for 3 weeks. Now after 4 weeks, he comes out when the lights first turn on and then hides when I see him.

Some background, I have a 180g (6'x2'x2') and has been running for 11 months now. I have a 2 Yellow Tangs, Purple Tang, Blue Hippo Tang, Chevron Tang, Diamond Goby, Mandarin Goby, Flame Angel, Purple Firefish, Red Firefish, Lyretail Anthias, and of course the leopard wrasse.

anyways, I don't know what the fish eats but I must have enough pods in the tank because I don't see him eating the pellets that I feed all my other fish. I guess, will this keep hiding or will it come out more often.

Forgive me, but I don't see the question here? I'm thinking it's regarding feeding?

It's doubtful a leopard will take to pellets without some transition. Sure, he'll hunt for pods, but if you want to get it onto prepared foods, I'd start with frozen foods first. Eventually you might get him to transition to pellets from there.

It'll take some time for him/her to settle in; 5 weeks isn't necessarily a whole lot of time yet. It might take 3-4 months before you get some regular behavior.

Mine did the same but I found that it was because my melanarus was bullying him... He hid for a few weeks and was just eating pods. As soon as I got rid of the other fish he started showing up more and more and within a week was eating frozen and pellets. Now he eats everything including nori.

I also just got a black leopard wrasse that ate mysis within a day.. I feel like when there are other fish eating the same thing that look similar to them they transition faster.

All leopard wrasses will eat PE mysis from the beginning. They, of course, will eat copepods as available, and if properly acclimated to pellets, will eat NLS pellets as a minimum. Best training is to feed a mixture of mysis and pellets to build a food association.
