Question about my new clowns?

I purchased 2 false ocellaris clowns a week ago. They seem to be fine. They hang in the top corner of the tank still which is what people have told me is normal till they get a bit bigger.

But one of my clowns (the bigger female) seems to have this thread like substance coming from underneath them. I'm guessing its coming from the anus and tail area. The thread like stuff is clear and about 2 inchs long.

Is this any thing to be concerned about? I was worried putting them in the 50 gallon as small as they were but none of the other fish mess with them. There my first pair of clowns and I just want them to be healthy.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a sign of internal parasite but may also be from a non varied diet. Do you feed mysis routinely? It's a good food but its always a good idea to mixin others like spirulina enriched brine and quality flake and pellets. My clowns love NLS pellets which I give them once or twice a week.

I feed them all dried foods. Some brine and bloodworms i crush up, and then flakes. There all dry foods tho which sadly come from walmart. Like the tetra brand. Do I probably need to order a better quality food over the net? They seem to like the bloodworms more than anything, and the damsels I have prefer the flakes.

i think it is just using the bathroom. see the same thing from my clowns on a regular basis. nothing to worry about.

Great news to here. Its seemed to be with him all day tho. Never had clowns and always wanted em so I wanna make sure there happy and healthy!

I would suggest finding some better foods. If for any reason, the foods you are feeding are likely loaded with phosphates which will only help to pollute your system. See if you can find frozen mysis. I prefer hykari brand. Petco sells New Life Spectrum pellets. Just make sure to get the smaller size so they can fit them in their mouth. A good flake is Formula 1 or Formula 2. Mine really like the 2. I think it is a good idea to feed something with a little spirulina in it to help flush out their systems.

Thanks for the advice. Im gonna make a drive to a petco tomarrow to try those out. Im staying in a town right now for school that pretty much just has a walmart. And I figured there food is mainly for freshwater fish so i'll make a drive for my clowns lol. Are those foods very pricey?

Nope not bad. About $6 to $9 each. I don't think Petco sell hykari but they do sell Ocean Nutrition mysis as well as frozen Formula 1 and 2. If its a far drive you may want to bring a small cooler for the frozen stuff.

Yea ill take the cooler I got the fish in lol. I remember seeing there before mysis shrimp blocks. Is that what the mysis shrimp come in? little cubes.

They also come in a big pack like a frozen sheet. I like to avoid the cubes, they usually add too much water compared to a solid sheet of them adding a bunch of unwanted gunk.
