Question about Onyx

I bought two Rod's Onyx clowns about two months ago. One fish has developed really nice black color. However the second has not. Is there still hope? All in all I really like the percs

the male will develop A LOT slower than the male. my male is slowly but surely getting there. HAve any more pics?

My guess is no anem? They seem to color up fast without or it may just be my RBTA.

Female almost always has more black than male.

I don't think the sex of the fish have anything to do with the coloration. Some just darker, more black, than other. I have had pairs with males much darker than females. My current pair with male much smaller and more black than female. The belly of my male is black while the belly of my female is orange.

Your clowns still too young. They will not fully color until about 1.5-2 years old. Size doesn't mater, age matter.

LOL that female is so large she's shaped like a cichlid. I stick by my earlier statement, but I do agree that a lot of why it applies has to do with age and size of the specamins in question.

Females metabolism is much faster than the males.The female grows and colors faster.The lower the male is on the hierarchy the slower his metabolism.Hence he colors slower.The is a loose rule manly for the wild.Our tanks are totally different.

I agree 100%. It has nothing to do with male/female. My male is quite a bit darker. I have seen young males color much quicker than their female mate.

The clowns in question are well under a year old and yor male should be catching up soon
