I was not sure if I should put any thing under my tank I have a oceanic ultimate 215 and I am in the process of building the stand. that will be done tomorrow. was not sure if I should put 3/4 inch insulation foam. I know one person with a 180 that just put rubber from a tread mill. it has trim around the tank on top and bottom

it all depends on the design of the tank. your oceanic is designed with a floating bottom, no foam is necessary as long as it is set on an even surface. you could put a cushion below the perimeter frame of the aquarium to cushion and absorb any irregularities.

From what I was told glass tank no foam....Acrylic tank foam.....

There is always so much debate to this. From my understanding, if a tank is engineers with bracing (black plastic that raises the tank), then foam is not needed. Any tank with a flat bottom, then it is advised.

so I could put rubber from a tread mill under it . that would probably be the best thing or something like that

The key is not to put anything on the bottom that will put pressure on the glass and not the outter rim. If you put pressure on the glass it will push up causing a major problem.

I found out it is a 1/4" foam rubber treadmill mat so it won't touch the glass just sit on the black edge
