question about stovepipe

Hey guys. I am having a little trouble trying to fit my stovepipe into the corner overflow of my new 55 gallon. Do I have to have the curved part that is attached to the prefilter? If I took it off, the water would just flow into the hole on the side. If I don't take it off, then the bulkhead which it goes through doesn't quite line up.
Another question. Do any of you glue the stovepipe into the bulkhead, or do you just push it in with a little force.

i dont see why you have to have the curved part if its in your overflow then no fish could go down the hole and no you shouldnt need glue cause it doesnt matter if it leaks which it should not anyway. do a power outage test to see if anthing overflows, good luck.
