Question about the Comline DOC skimmer 9010

I am trying to install my brand new 9010 skimmer and I am having a few problems.

First it is being used in a sump.

Questions:

1. What does the "sleeve below the cover" do? I cannot fit this part anywhere. It says in the manual that it is suppose to be placed below the "cover with sliding unit" but as you can see in the picture, it does not fit.

2. Is the water suppose to exit the riser tube with the blue foam? Water is not rising out of this tube and when I look inside this tube the water level is about the same level as my sump water level.

3. I thought this skimmer is suppose to be really quiet. It does make a noticeable sound.

1) You have to remove the part on the front that the pipe goes in and the grate is on, it prys out, the piece you have fits behind it, the round piece goes over the pump inlet.

2) Yes, but it will not without the coupler in place.

3) It should be very quiet but I suspect the water level is very low inside without the coupler so you can here the water spraying inside.

Is the squiggly blue water mark line on the skimmer an indicator for me to have my sump water level to be at that level for the skimmer to be quiet?

If you have the sump kit installed the water line is inconsequential, any water line from 4" to the squiglly line is OK. Without the sump kit, it must be submerged within about 1" of the squiggly line.

It consists of 3 parts and they all must be installed, the bottom cover without slots, the coupler between the pump and intake and the pipe with sponge.

Holy smoke....there are so many microbubbles.

Will the microbubbles subsides? I don't think the blue sponge is helping with the microbubbles that much.

Are your sure that the outlet of the pump is inserted in the jet pipe? The skimmer does produce a fair amount of bubbles at first but it should not be any huge amount, this declines over a couple of weeks, you can raise the sponge to help.
