question about using a plenum and the berlin system

I have two questions:

1)Can I use a plenum with a 75 gallon tank and what is the minimum height of the anerobic space on a standard 75 gallon tank?
2)would a plenum inhibit the effectiveness of a tank using the berlin system?

I don’t have a great deal of experience in this area but I’ve read a lot about the use of a plenum. Most (3 out of 4) of my reading said not to use a plenum. Lots of info on the web on this subject.

Why not just do a deep sand bed?

yes you can use one in a 75 they do take up some space though. 3/4 to 1 inch I'd say would be the min for the anerobic area with about 4 inches of sand depth. if you have a sump/refugium (good sized) you may want to consider running one remotley. This way it is much easier to maintain. Mine is in the sump (100 gal rubbermaid)
