question for anyone????

This question might be stupid.....but im new to reefs and i have a 6 gal......so you know my next question......


is there any small anemones that you can put in a 6 gal????
would it be good to put one in a 6 gal???

just a question...i feel like this might be a stupid question

Well, majano and aipstasia are doable in a six.

That's a joke, you don't want those anemone's in your tank.

A six gallon tank is too small for any of the clownfish-hosting anemones, but you might be able to get a small rock or tulip anemone that would work.

However, the above being said, a six gallon tank is very, very difficult to keep stable. Chemical and temperature parameters can bounce all over the place, especially when you are new to saltwater. That means, for a while at least, anemones should not be considered for this tank (and that goes for most corals too).

Kevin why would you tell someone to put a tulip in their tank when they are just pretty mojanos isnt that like saying aptaisia is a good anemone??

Some people love majanos. I have some that I think are awesome...that being said most people think they are nuisance. As long as they're not hurting my corals, they're a good filler. They do split and spread, though, so I do not recommend them.

Because some of them are very pretty - much like waratah anemones. And appearance is king. And I've known people who have been proud of their aiptasia-filled tanks - and I mean filled (on the order of several thousand). Me, I think aips are ugly and a nuisance. Mojanos are less ugly, but can still be a nuisance. Tulips and some rock/flower anemones can be very colorful and attractive. Whether they are a nuisance or not is a personal consideration.

If something attractive reproduces often, is it a nuisance? Keep in mind my RBTA has produced well over 100 clones....

ok i just am a bit sensitive because i have to kill 50 tulips a week to keep them away from my sps
i hate them arghhhh

BTA has value and that makes a difference i would say

I think tube anemones get huge.

Yes, almost any anem could be considered a nuisance in an SPS dominated tank.

they came on some used LR i had no idea they would spread like they do they are more desrtuctive to my xenia than anything they also kill zoas mushroooms and LPS corals so if you have the opportunity get rid of them asap
