Question for fang blenny owners

Hi all,

I'm thinking of adding a striped fang blenny (M.grammistes) to my 90g but wanted a bit more info re their hunting habits before I purchase one.

Can any keepers out there tell me what type of prey you usually see yours hunting? Do they hunt small copeopods (1-2mm) or prefer larger amphipods/isopods?

I ask as I have a mandarin which mainly eats the smaller pods which I top-up every fortnight and wondered if they would be competing for the same resources.

Thanks

Nick

I've been having problems getting my canary blenny to eat, all he's been eating is small copepods. If I were you I would make sure the blenny you want is taking other kinds of food or it will help deplete your pods faster.

Thanks, it will be captive bred and they are currently eating frozen mysis and crushed flake according to the supplier. Interesting to know that yours is eating small pods as I will only be able to feed mine a couple of times a day, both in the evening so it would spend most of the day hunting these I guess.

Hope you manage to get yours eating soon

I have a Forktail blenny that eats anything I feed the tank and also hunts for Copepods and also attacks my snails once in a while.
