question for (home) builders

aluminum isnt magnetic, it could be wire mesh behind the drywall depending on how old the house is. they do use steel plates to protect wires but they are rarley used. they used to also use steel strips between seams in older drywall. or a duct...

you mean galvanized steel....

as far as I know you cant galvinize aluminum discimilar metals.
 
Now, I've had a magnet drop, and even skid off the tank but hit the wall????? Holy cow, Mr Meagi has nothing on you.
