Question for planning

I am considering a rimless tank with pendant lighting (AquaIlluminations perhaps if I can make it work). I am planning on a ProfiLux controller and am considering the SimuL or Simu spot for "effect lighting." Here are my questions:

(1) is the Simu led accessory lighting necessary/appropriate if I use an LED light system (e.g., AI or other ProfiLux-compatible light) - I like the idea of the broad spectrum range from sunrise to sunset and thunderstorms.

(2) If I were to get the AI and also the Simu, how would you recommend mounting it? (remember we're rimless here)

Thoughts?

Thanks

Hi

If you go for the Ai system which I have also you can purchase the pendant set from reef geek then get the current USA pendant brackets or make your own. if you follow my tank build on here in the next week you will see this all put together ;)

In regards to the simu or simu-L in conjunction with the Ai lights, the only extra function you would get would be orange/red sun up and sundown effect as the Ai is blue and white. Using the ProfiLux to control the Ai opens up the full power of profiLux to Ai so you get all the cool features including the storm effects.

I would get the profilux and the Ai and then add the simu or simu-L at a later stage if you feel you need for the sun up/down red hue effect, personally I will be adding it to mine as a single simu spot on my 24x24 cube.

Depending on what size tank you have depends on whether I would recommend spot or stick, the general rule is if the tank is more than 4' then get two sticks or two spots, if less then 3' and not a cube then one stick, but if cube then one spot.

Mounting depends on various factors, the stick comes with P clip screw mounts and the spot has a tank edge clamp mount on a flexible neck.
