Question For TBS

Hi TBS,

Have a couple questions:

1) Ever since I put my critters in my tank from you the other day, most of the blue leg hermits have huddled up in a big pile in top of a rock right under the skimmer return flow. Have you ever seen this and is it normal for them to do this? I acclimated them very slowly over 3 hrs. and my water is good.

2) On the thick featherlike hair algae on the front glass which is now like 1/4" thick in some areas, would it be a good idea just to manually remove it, or leave it and see if anyone eats it?

thanks

Thart is the way they act in the wild.....thousands all piled up on the rocks! eventually they will disperse in the tank....

I would manually remove it....check you source water for phosphates, or overfeeding...to many nutrients=hair algae!
Thanks
TBS

thanks

:D

the hermit-dogpile !

Yeah they seem to like to do that at times ;)

Mine did the same at first. I added some LR from another tank after a couple of weeks and they all migrated to it for a few days. Once all of the LR had been in the tank for a few weeks, the hermits began to spread out and I hardly ever see more than a few congregrating in one area now.

I think the second or third day they went separate way. Few of them likes the bottom but most have climbed up the rocks.
