I have a friend of mine who was at the FPL plant, at the intake canal. There, he saw a strange fish that I can't ID. It could be fresh or salt, more likely salt. It was 2 feet long, and its shape was that of a flounder, but it swam upright. Extremely thin. One eye on each side of the head, so not a flounder. It was twice as long as it was tall. It was sitting in the current face in. It had whiskers as long as its body, and had alot of colors. The colors seemed to change depending on what angle the sun hit it. He sat there watching this thing for quite a while, so it wasn't a quick glimpse. There were quite a few of them so it wasn't just a mutation.
We've ruled out arowana, knife fish, tarpon, snook, and lookdowns. He's adamant about the whiskers.
Probably Matt or Dean would know what these guys are... I'm curious but I can't get in there without business. We were there servicing a machine so he had business.
