Question...getting started

I'm getting started with my 90 gallon reef and aim to get clownfish to start. Want a pair..leaning towards true percula. If I were to buy from LiveAquaria or a similar place do they send female and male bonded pairs usually or will they bond in my tank? Also when you have two do you need more than one anemone? Thanks.

Sometimes LA has bonded pairs, other times not; or they'll send two & you hope they pair up in your tank. Do you have a LFS nearby with livestock? Occasionally aquarium stores have bonded pairs too. One anemone will do, if they take to it. Let your tank mature for at least 6 months before adding any anemone. They're very sensitive creatures & require stable water parameters to survive & thrive. Good luck & welcome to Reef Central!!

bonded usually means they are laying eggs. paired up is a when they are together. Sorry, the X breeder in me coming out. you can ask most LFS to order you larger pairs if you want. but i would go with 2 juvi's and have them pair up and you can watch them pair up and do the wiggle and dancing, and dominance as they figure out who is gonna be who in the relationship.

Ooops, I stand corrected...That's what I meant tho, paired up...I agree it's sooo cool to watch the whole process.

Bonded pair: the two clown fish formed a pair, one is a male and one is a female.
LFS definition of bonded pair: mean two clown fish living together without fighting.

Mated pair: Bonded pair that have spawned at least once
LFS definition of mated pair: two clown fish paired and one is obviously female and the other male.
