question on clams

do they close at night?

is it normal for the intake opening to get really big and sometimes close?

is it normal for the byssal opening to be open at times?

how do you know if a clam is feeding?

My squamosa does seem to close at night. Mine almost seems to "yawn" at times opening wide then almost closing. I just pour in some DT's and assume it is feeding, I don't target feed. It is doing well so far. If you would really like to know if it is feeding, try target feeding. You can place it in a bowl and put in DT's or whatever you use. It will filter and the water will no longer look so green. Just my 2 cents.
