Question on Luminbrights and a canopy..

Hello all,
Been a while since i have posted....really busy in life and a huge part of that is I've been in serious prep mode for 2- 150 gallon builds.....Custom tanks....5x2x2 peninsula drilled on side glass..This hobby is incredible!!!!!!!!!! Even when the joy turns to pain and back to joy and ect....

anyways....I will have 2-250w...lumenbrights....going in a canopy....canopy is going to be built...question is how far should the BULB be from the top of the water? So I know how tall to biuld the canopy.

I was recently recommended 8-12" from the water to the bottom of the reflector for my new 250 halides. I was wondering the same thing about water to bulb - seems that most folks measure to the bottom of the pendant.

Agree. 10 inches is a nice place to start.

I have a Lumbright 16"x16" My canopy is 14" high, and the bulb is 10" from the water's surface.

LumenBrights are recommended to be higher up. I think its 12-14inch. Search the forums here for the thread on them and you will see the recommendations.
