Question on New Nikon D80

I am new to SLR after switching from the point and shoot camera, is it true that all pictures taken are through the viewfinder, I am so used to view the pre-shot using the monitor and found myself in a strange territory using a viewfinder.

You can pick up the new Canon 1DMIII when it comes out in a few months- it will have live preview in the lcd. Of course, it costs a lot :p Aside from that, I'm pretty sure all dslr's have no live preview.
If there were a caption it would say "why not?" :p

When I went from point and shoot to DSLR it felt strange. Now though I am used to it. Except that my left eye gets blurry after I shoot for a while.

Sqwak... lol.

The viewfinder is only really nice when you can't get your face down to the camera level.

My old powershot pro 1 had a screen that could flip out and spin around, it was a pretty handy feature. Yet I have found from a couple of P&S's that the LCD never quite gets it right - part of the pic is always cut off or something along those lines.

I have an angle-finder attachment that works really well for that sort of thing. The added bonus is that you can zoom in on the subject and make sure that you're nailing the focus.

That would be handy.

My eyes are a little screwy naturally so I can't always tell how the focus is. You have to make sure the optics in your viewfinder are spot on aswell - that has cost me a shot or two in the past.

Ok, my question is how do you guys take the shut from the top with a camera box and there is only so much to room to negotiate your head around under a 400 watts halid, don't want to get my hair all burn up for a few snaps. A preview like the ones in point and shoot wins in aquarium photography but I can't seem to be get it to focus that's why I went with a Nikon D80 with kit lens, the picture quality is night and day compare to the Coolpix 4500.

awww dont say such things!! lmao I have a nikon cool pix 4300 and am trying to be optimistic lol i cant affoard new camera now..but wanna tell me how to take better actinic shots with my cool pix? plllleeeeaaassee?

your LIVE view is what YOIU are actually looking at, just center the object and click, then you can view it on the LCD screen on the back of the camera.
