Just trying to get some info on what kind of Ro/Di set up is good enough and also where to get it for a good price.... if anyone has any suggestions on types and places to check out i would really apreciate it..

Thanks guys...

Unless you get one with odd size filters, aren't the filters interchangeable? So, if your filters don't perform just change them out for better ones?

The ones on Ebay generally use membranes that are rated at higher pressures than better models. In Oak Lawn you have lower pressure water feed (40 or so PSI). So in order to produce the amount of water, more waste water passes through the RO unit. So that $69-99 price tag on ebay adds an extra $20-40 to your yearly water bill.

thanks for the help guys... dont they work by stages or sumthing like that? i used to get water from my bro i dont know too much about these...

Stages refer to the number of steps that the water goes through during the filtration process. This depends on the particular unit and is usually determined by the condition of the water going in.

Being from Oak Lawn, I'd say you shouldn't need more than a 4 Stage RO/DI for your water. That's 2x Prefilters, 1x Membrane (3 stages) and a DI stage (stage 4). You can get a 5 stage (3 prefilters, 1 Membrane, 1 DI stage) if you wish that will reduce the amount of prefilter changing you need to do.

Now, me personally, I used a 5 stage RO unit (When I was living in Burbank) and didn't bother with a DI stage as the water coming out of the unit was clean enough for my tanks w/o the DI.
