I would say depends on what you can fit under your stand? You will want to hide as much equipment as possible down there. In the range of 40 or 50 gallons. If your going to have an ATO, maybe keep some room for a container down there?
+1, just be sure to leave enough room for any other equipment or top off reservoirs you may also want to keep under your cabinet. I made a 70 gallon sump/refugium for my 120 gallon tank.
