i bought a clown 2 weeks ago and today i could have swore i saw him shivering is that a sign of something bad to come. i have had another clown for about 2 more weeks before him also. they seem to pick at the sand was wondering if they were scratching or is it normal.

that seems to happen when one is establishing the feminine dominance. have you guys ever heard your clowns quack ? i had my pumps off one days and the female would chase the male and he'd do the spasm and there'd be a quacking noise.

there is also what looks like clear bubbles on his chin if fish had chins lol thats the best i can explain. is this a sign of ich?

Ich is white specks on the fish. If it looks like little bubbles it is probably just that, little micro bubble. My fish get little bubbles on them all the time.

i mean white mark on his side fin sorry for the rush just fed up with battling red slime algea and now this. i have never had problems with fish in my other tank but all of a sudden everything is falling apart.

I would say just keep an eye on him the next couple of days. If you see more white specks or any other kind of disease spots show up i would quarantine him. If it is ich it will attach during the day and release at night.

i read that it takes 8 weeks to get rid of ich from your system, and is ich contagous (sp) what do people normaly use to quarinteen fish. and one last question do i need to quarinteen both fish.

Just take a deep breathe. I had a big disease problem when i first got my tank up and running and currently have a hair algae problem. My clarkii clown had white stuff on him but i made sure he was well fed and healthy and he is fine now. Dont let it stress you out just keep an eye on them and take the proper steps.

Ich will always be in your system. It is next to impossible to fully get it out. It lies dormant and attacks unhealthy or stressed out fish. If you do quarantine i have been recommended to use copper safe and formaline together for ich. It can take up to right around 6-8 weeks for the ich in the tank to go through its life cycle. But like i said there will most likely always be some lyng dormant even after that. If your fish are healthy and not stressed they can fight it off. A UV sterilizer on your tank will also help as it helps kill any ich floating in your system.

the first one i got is fine the one i bought 2 weeks ago has a white spec on his fin and his body. can i use a 5 gallon bucket to quarinteen? what will i need besides water movment. also i dont think ich hurts coral is that true

You will need an air pump to keep plenty of air in the water. Medications depleat the air in the water. Keep an eye on all the parameters. with that small of an amount of water the ammonia and nitrite can spike pretty quickly and kill the fish. Water changes will help tat but you will need to add more medication for the amount of water you change. Good luck. Hope he pulls thru for you.
