questions about peacock molt?

well, after my peacocks first molt that failed. she has never been the same but she is a fighter and has continued to live. she still accepts food and had only lost 1 appendage during the failed molt. but now a few months after the failed molt her shell seems to be getting milky or faded out and a week ago i noticed 1 of her eyes turning black. today i noticed her eye is actualy falling off.

i know appendages will grow back in a few molts, but what about the eyes? never had this prolems before and i am kinda worried that she has shell desease. what are some good signs of it?

Eyes, I am sorry to say, will not grow back. i know of no instances where a truly failed molt (animal can't get out of shell) has survived more than a few days. Shell disease manifests itself as a dark brown/black ring that looks like a hole in the shell. I doubt that is it. pictures may help.

no she is not in a 5g. i need to update my profile, i have changed everything around since then.

i will try to take some pictures here shortly see if i can get any good ones. she is truly a fighter, i could have swore she was gonna die after the failed molt but she pulled thru it and only lost the 1 appendage. i just wasnt sure about the whole eye thing.

well if it's any consolation, there was a certain G. glabrous (or graphurus... im not sure) that lived a long one-eyed life after a run in with an oversized hermit crab. If you can get your O.s. past this ordeal maybe it will stick around for a good while longer. after all the eyes are independent of each other.

well my peacock finally ended up in davey jones locker today. she was a fighter but she was never the same after the molt. its gonna be a rough time finding another peacock localy. the LFS has some spearers in stock now so maybe i will try my hand at them for a bit. on another note my N. Wernera is still alive and still doing great. finally after about 10 molts has turned neon green and is now called...Marvin (The Martian)..lol
