I have been happy with the Precision Marine bullet series. It would help however, if we knew more about your tank size and stocking.

I am changing out my skimmer Tuesday. The one I am taking out would be perfect for you. It is a very nice venture skimmer that has been keeping my 300 gallon in good shape for years. I used to have 2 of them. Reguardles picked up a new high end H&S skimmer and will not need my old one. I even have spare parts for it since I had 2. If you are interested I will get the brand size and price for you.

If you decide to go new, asmskimmer.com will have what you need. I got my G3 there and am very happy with it.

hey jim i did take a look thru the selling forum but didnt see nything and kind of trying to get a idea whats working good for people.

I have always like the ASM skimmers. I know you are looking for something to run outside of sump so I have never used their external skimmers.

I have a MRC1with a iwaki 40 the pressure rated one. I run external on my 110 and like it but it really depends on your system to what size skimmer and cost will be

I am running an Evolution 500 on a 180, I am using this as an internal but they also double as ecternal skimmers.

I run a MRC-2 with extra riser (33" tall) using a Iwaki 55. The skimmer is external on my 120. I like it a lot!

Both are awesome skimmers but very different... (I use both)

One thing I like about beckett skimmers (MRC) is that you can skim "wetter" with more ease if you desire.

What I like about the needle wheels (ASM) is that you dont need an extra $$$ powerful pump to drive them. They come with a nice efficient pump that creates great bubble size for a long contact time and a great dry foam.

My beckets also require much more maintenance to keep them working properly. I like my GEO beckets and my PM beckets more than my MRC becket.

If I had to choose, Id take an ASM (or even an octopus)
