Questions Re Apex Features

will neptune be adding salinity monitoring to the apex sometime soon? i really like this feature and hope they add it

so does the apex dim a icecap 660 ballast? I know the icecap has a dimmable option, there is a plug for it... but is it compatible without getting mcguyver on it?
 
I haven't been able to locate specs on how the dimmable function works but the Apex will be able to control devices that support a 0-10 vdc control voltage (meaning the Apex, same as the AquaSurf will send a voltage in the range of 0-10 vdc to the device (pump, ballast, etc)). If you are able to locate information on the IceCap and the variable control spec indicates dimming uses 0-10 vdc then I would expect no McGuyver required (you might need to make a connector though) but if the control is more involved then it might take more work but how much more depends on what the ballast needs.
 
Is the Aquasurf required to control Tunzes with the Apex, or can the Apex be connected directly to the streams?

anyone know if the EnergyBar8 has any socket status indicator LEDs and a means to manually turn a socket on/off?

None of the images nor documentation suggests that there are either LED indicators nor 'buttons' to turn outlets on/off other than using the controller.
 
I apologize if this has been answered. If it has, I have searched the threads and can not find it but...

Can someone please explain how the Apex can/will control Tunze 6100's. What equipment is needed to make this happen. What does the programming look like?

The Apex basically has a built-in AquaSurf. You will need to purchase a cable separately (part number on the site) but if you take a scan at the AqauSurf manual you can read setup and operation descriptions. In short the AquaSurf or Apex will plug into the Tunze stream the same as the Tunze controller would (the round DIN plug on the Tunze).
 
I know what you mean; I have a new fish room ready and waiting, even have a place on the wall to mount it:)
 
Ha, I am in the same boat. All the wires are organized, labeled, ready to be plugged in! Even have my AirPort Express and Ethernet set-up and ready to go.

I am really excited about this product. I had the ACIII but felt as if I was never fully utilizing it because of my lack of programming ability. This controller should really help out those of us who struggled with the programming part of the ACIII and previous controllers.

thanks for replying. i didn't see anything in a picture or a spec either, but was hoping someone knew otherwise. a few cheap leds can go a long way to let you see all is working well or diagnose a problem. manual overrides can be very handy too.

hope they put it on the wishlist if they are missing

Does the Apex programming language include conditional "IF" statements that can be used to turn on fan1 at say 80 deg, fan2 at 81 degrees and a chiller at 82 deg?

Since the AC3 can do this (today) I would expect the Apex to do at least the same...
 
I've read all the threads regarding the Apex but still can't find definitive info on the built in AquaSurf functionality. Will it be possible to control stream Off/On times to within 1/10 sec as is possible with the AquaSurf module? In other words, will the command:

Pmp OSC 00/18/19 for PF1

which turns the stream ON for 1.8 secs and OFF for 1.9 secs be possible?

Yes, the built-in functionality supports the functionality available in the AquaSurf.
