hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows what I can use to glue down corals in my tank? I know eddies sells an epoxy but it is 25 dollars for a tine tube. I remember someone telling me about stuff at home depo that you can buy. also how long does a fish have to stay in a qt tank? I have my sisters hippo tank and my naso tang in my 40 long . no signs of ich and both are eating well. I am just not sure if it is 3 or 6 weeks. thank you

Basically it's superglue, but I believe there are 2 kinds, so wait to get the definitive word on which is which. I use IC-Gel, which is another lfs product, a variation on superglue. Works best if you do it out of the water totally, blotting surface dry-ish before gluing, but it will also work if you let a blob partially dry on a coral base, then pick a particularly rough spot on the underwater rockwork and put the frag against it, letting the half-set glue work its way into crevices and then holding your hand steady for about 200 seconds until it sets up. It's a lot more like trying to get modeling clay to hold something than it is the instant-bond way the stuff works above-water.

I picked up a tube of epoxy from healthy pet center for $12.00, also that super glue gel works pretty good from what I've read in the other forum sections....

Sounds like two-part epoxy to me. HD/Lowes sells it for about $3 a tube compared to the $20+ at the LFS. Get the stuff that says its 'for potable water'....Great stuff, use it all the time (along with superglue gel) to glue SPS frags to rubble or directly to rock-work.

for heavy things, you want the 2 part epoxy, you can use it in tank. for small frags, superglue to a small piece of rubble rock, then epoxy that where you want it in the tank. Super-glue gel, Locktite brand, and the plumbers epoxy that Tony mentioned from home depot.
