Quick Disconnects For Streams

Roger - I am thinking I would like to install a quick disconnect into the wiring to my 6100's to facilitate getting them in and out for maintenance a lot easier. I am curious how many wires and what guage are in the cords so as I may investigate further for a suitable quick disconnect.

I have seen it done but don't do what my friend did. He used DIN couplers and the damn things come undone if you just look at them funny. Their are five wires. I am not sure of the wire gauge but it is very fine- unplug the end that goes in the driver and see for yourself. Frankly if I were to do it I would use a molex type coupler system as the wires are well suited to insertion in the small pins. It gets a bit tricky because all five wires have to make perfect contact for the pump to work, it is not that easy to trouble shoot a bad connection, my advise is to make a complementary piece to the existing plug and build what is essentially a very small extension from the inside of the driver to the outside of the driver-about 2". You have to be very careful as well because 5M is about the absolute maximum before the resistance is too high for the pump to run- about 2 years ago we made an extra long cable version with a signal amplification system and it was a real PITA, then we settled on justr making the cable as long as possible without an amplifier and having only one cable length. Also- it must never, ever get wet- unless you want to see a small fireworks show on the circuitry and pay $77 for a new driver.
