I've been trying to trap a peppermint for a couple days now. I saw him on/in a rock this morning, and i'm 99% sure i got the rock out he is in. How long will he survive out of water? Any idea's? I sucked one of my favorite frogspawn clear off it's skeleton trying to get him out. He's not my favorite animal right now.

the lady at the place you ordered the nudis from sent me a post about a trap made out of a water bottle. Said it works great. Did you not see or try that?

I tried it for a couple nights. He wasn't buying it. I just happened to come down this morning and saw him in a rock that was easily removed. I left the rock out for about 25 minutes. He didn't bail, so I either got him or he moved somewhere else.

you'd think if the peppermints would eat those nudis, they'd eat flatworms and the zoa eating nudis too right? I wished I would have ordered a couple anyways just to see.

I would be more worried of the Aips eating the nudis. I've got a couple good sized ones. They say that's a possibility. Unless you get a crew to gang up on the larger aips...

I dont have any that big, I have a couple thats around the size of a dime. I thought that was big. Let us know how it goes. If it works out, I'll try a couple and hope my shrimp don't eat them. I may go ahead and give Joes Juice another try....

I had some that were almost 4" in diameter back when I started (I thought, cool, a free anemone came out of the rock and started feeding them-ahh ignorance is bliss isn't it:D). I don't think the Aips can eat them unless they are dropped on the oral disc. I remember my Berghia nudis eating the Aips from base up (and the larger ones were gone along with all others within 6 months and I used to have hundreds of them), but it's been years since I used them.

Steve,

Not at the time. Shakes (my maroon) gobbled one up when I dropped it in, but spit it right out.

Daniel,

I only got 2 the first time (if memory serves and we all know there is reason to doubt that to be the case:D). It was in a 40H. By the time I got them, I'd been feeding the Aips for months, so everything in the tank was covered in Aips...

I have used joes juice to eradicate Aiptasia is several tanks. The key is to get a real syringe for the pharmacy.

In my new 40 breeder i had a few aipstatia to begin with and a month later the rock was all covered. I got a peppermint shrimp and in 24 hours i couldnt find one. Ive had around 8 tanks in the past 4 years all being nanos and ive always had to use peppermints to eat my aipstatia and ive never bought one that hasnt eaten them. do you guys have trouble finding ones that will eat aipstatia? ive always bought mine from the same lfs so im thinking maybe he gets the ones that are for sure aipstatia eaters..

I have 3 in my 20 gal. They took care of all the smaller ones. But the ones that are around the size of a dime, they don't touch. I counted around 15. There use to be too many to even count. So, I'm gonna give the joes juice a try since these are large and should be able to inject them easy. If it doesnt work, I'll probably try to order a couple of the berghias soon and hope the pepps dont eat them. If they do, guess it will be a $30+ meal for them...

Steve

I only had mostly smaller ones so thats probably why then.I had a few that were pretty big which were the last to go. once you kill them with the joes juice and they do grow back like ive heard they will sometimes then atleast they will be smaller and the peps can take care of them for yea.
