Quick Nano Skimmer

I am looking to add the nano skimmer to the sump of my 30G cube. The sump has a 1" lip around it and I have 8" of water in the resovoir where the sump would set. Will the hanger that come with the skimmer work for the sump, will it just "sit" in the sump, or will I need the adapter? Thanks

It should work, is the lip the standard Oceanic or AGA? I know it will work with that.
