Quick question on pump discharge line

Is there a point in having a ball valve on the discharge of a DC pump for the return line? Or would it just be unnecessary since you can control the flow with the controller?

Provided that you can adjust the pump to the range of flow you need with the pumps controller then no there is no point..

Unless said valve(s) was part of a manifold system allowing you to shutoff the reactors..

It would be handy if you needed to clean or replace the pump.

But, that's why you use a union directly on the outlet...

That's what I figured.

I would do both a union and ball valve on both the suction and pressure side of the pump, to shut off the water and then remove the pump.
