quick question

Either its shedding (normal) or melting (bad). With shedding it looks more waxy and will close up for a few days and shed the skin, which is how some of them grow, though they dont always do this.

If its melting, which to me sounds more like what you're doing, then more info is needed. We gotta have everything from ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, salt level, lights being used, pH especially, alk, and all that. There's too many reasons why it would do that to know without more info.

I usually look for necrosis (disintegration) or black slime. If it has either (or a few other symptoms), it's having serious problems. It is pretty common for leathers to close up for extended periods of time, though. Most for a few days to a week, but I had a toadstool close for nearly six months. Still have it;).

Can you get a pic?

Gess it was just shedding, it was closer for about 5 days, then it started opening and it looked like there was a cover proventing the polpys from opening, it broke through and I amped up the flow alittle, and now it looks the best it has since I got it, =) very happpy its not melting

Yes, leathers love flow. IMO you cant overdo it with them unless you have like a maxijet or some other "jet" type of powerhead right on it. I've seen a video of one in the wild though...wish i knew where it was...but it was being blown ALL over the place, like violently lol. And it was amazing looking. It was fully open and fluffed up to the max.
