Quick qustion?

Have her work in the tank, and she will get tired of the maroon attacking her hand. Then, she will have no problem with you trading it in..... hehe

A maroon grows 5" long, has teeth and will fight a buzzsaw. YOu will have, ultimately to upgrade to a 100 g to accommodate that fish.

Well put. I wish there was a way to keep track of intended up-grades and trade-ins. I'd bet its less than 10%.

I had one that was almost 7". I was commenting to Greg (NAMXAS) that I was sure she'd be OK in my mostly lion tank, she wasn't.

Another true MC story. Years ago, before I knew better, I had an established big female MC. I got another and the established clown killed the new one (floating in the LFS bag) , while I was out of the room for about 15 mins.

To the OP; sorry to tell war stories on your thread.
This is no way to start a hobby, this fish needs room and IMO, its simply cruel and unnecessary to confine this fish to 10 gals. Of course, you can't add any fish with her. Juvi clowns can be kept together, but only until they reach sexual maturity and pair off. Then they will viciously attack any intruder. A dirty little secret: Most LFS will not take many fish back, and when they do, its only for very good customers. LFS do not quarantine fish and all of their tanks are often/usually on the same water system. Meaning, a sick fish could infect every fish in the store. Many end up being flushed. Cramped fish may look OK, but never reach their potential and are never as active as they should be .I seldom really sympathize with fish, but this is so far over the top, I had to comment. Most folks have never seen a full-grown female maroon, I guess.

I'll keep it for a while and traded it for something else. What other fish could I get for a 10g and how many? I've been looking at videos of 10g and see people with more then one fish but not sure if that would be alright.

Cramped fish are angry fish, imho

Gobies can be good little fish. some with great personalities. my clown goby would sit on the rock next to the glass when i sat in the chair next to the tank.

np. I just mentioned it cause I've had the same issue

gobies i have found to be full of personality. I've only been a caretaker as of recently, but I've been watcher of my current tank since it's set up 5ish years ago
going off of a nanofish list-for easy fish
neons are good, prawn goby, Greenbanded Goby, Yellowstriped Cardinalfish

Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse are supposed to be good, but I've heard some very mixed reveiws of them
edit:
as for how many, I will leave that up to other people, cause i have no idea

if you have that clown in there, you really shouldnt put anything else in there. Even with her small size she will tear up any fish you put in there. If you plan on keeping her for now leave her by herself if you getting rid of her. A court jester goby any of the clown gobys, catalina goby is gorgeous. some pygmy wrasse or a Possum Wrasse.
